Tailor Laser Welded Blanks (TLWB) are engineered semi-finished components created by laser welding dissimilar metal sheets—such as steel and aluminium—with varying thicknesses, coatings, and mechanical properties. These blanks are essential in the production of Body-in-White (BIW) components, including inner doors, floor panels, dash panels, body sides, pillars, and rails.
By enabling the precise placement of material strength where it’s needed most, TLWB technology supports lightweight construction, structural integrity, and cost efficiency in both cold and hot stamping processes. Tailored Blanks allow the use of optimal steel specifications, including ultra-high strength cold stamping steels and Usibor® and Ductibor® hot stamping steels.
